Time-lords

Time-lord systems answer a different question from the natal chart. The natal chart says what is true; the time-lords say when each part of it is foregrounded. Three systems dominate the classical sources: annual profections (Hellenistic), firdaria (Persian), and zodiacal releasing (Vettius Valens). Each names a planet (or a chain of planets) responsible for a defined chapter of the life.

Annual profections

Profections advance the Ascendant by one whole sign per year of life. Year 0 is the natal Ascendant; year 1 is the second sign; year 12 returns to the Ascendant; and so on. The lord of the profected sign is the lord of the year. That planet's natal condition, transits, and solar return placement together carry extra weight for that twelve-month period. Lilly tabulates the system; Vettius Valens uses it as a primary timing tool.

Firdaria

Firdaria is a Persian system that allots a fixed number of years to each of the seven planets, in a sect-conditional order, with sub-periods. Day chart: Sun 10, Venus 8, Mercury 13, Moon 9, Saturn 11, Jupiter 12, Mars 7 (total 70). Night chart: Moon, Saturn, Jupiter, Mars, Sun, Venus, Mercury (same year-counts in different order). After year 70 the cycle repeats with the lights swapped. Each major period subdivides into seven sub-periods, each ruled by a different planet — a coarse and a fine timing layer at once.

Zodiacal releasing

Vettius Valens's zodiacal releasing technique, in Anthology Book IV, releases time from the Lot of Fortune (or the Lot of Spirit) through periods of fixed length per sign. A 'loosing of the bond' marks a major life turn when the unrolling reaches an angular pivot from its starting sign. The technique is detailed and richly conditional; Netra implements the standard release from Spirit and Fortune with the loosing-of-the-bond markers shown.

How Netra uses it

The Time-lords view runs all three systems simultaneously and aligns them on a single timeline. The lord of each chapter is shown alongside the natal condition that lord carries; transit overlays show what is hot in the periods presently active.
