In the natal chart the Moon signifies the principle of need and reception — feeling, instinct, the part of life that receives impressions and seeks comfort. The Mars signifies the principle of decision and severance — appetite, contention, the part of life that cuts and presses forward. When their longitudes merge into a single voice; the two principles co-locate at the same degree and act as one body, with the more dignified planet leading, the chart carries the resulting configuration as a structural feature of its temperament — present in every house and angle that either body touches.
